Format and scoring

One page of tournament logic

No format knowledge is assumed. These are the rules that change what happens in a room or on the standings.

Casual one-on-oneMake a point, explain why it holds, and answer what the other person said. No prepared case or citations.
Five minutes of speechNinety seconds each to open, then sixty seconds each to reply. No preparation time inside the round.
Offer and answerEach room draws four questions from the published pool. One debater offers one; the other takes it, sends it back once, or counters with their own.
Rounds won leadTotal wins rank first. Speaker points break a tie: AI argument score, then Camera +2, Avatar −1, Off or dark −3. The posted break line advances to single elimination. Every judged win or loss also updates your human Debate Rating.
Rules

The contract before you enter a room

Check in, then stay reachableThe queue pairs whoever is ready. A missed room or personal connection failure can become a forfeit after five minutes.
A written decisionThe published AI panel decides each round except the final. Any decision can be appealed to a human.
The final belongs to the roomThe signed-in audience votes after the last speech. The published vote floor and close-vote rule decide when the panel must stand in.
Every round is recordedEntering includes recording. Preliminary footage is private by default. Elimination-round coverage follows the official rules.

The standings

Wins first, then speaker points. Camera +2, Avatar −1, Off or dark −3 applies only to that tiebreak.
