How async rounds work

Nobody has to be online at the same time.

Every other way to debate here needs two people free at the same hour. Across a community that spans every timezone, that hour usually does not exist. An async round removes it.

One async round drawn as a flow You record a 90 second opening on Tuesday at 11:04 PM. Nine hours later on Wednesday morning they record a 120 second answer. Eleven hours after that you record a 60 second reply. The AI ballot lands within fifteen minutes. Three turns, traded like letters.

You pick a question and argue Pro for 90 seconds. Someone answers as Con for 120 seconds. You close in 60. Video or audio, recorded straight in the browser, no scheduling and no room to join.

A real judge at the end, not a thumbs up.

Every turn gets transcribed, then the AI writes one plain-language ballot: winner, an argument score out of 100, and a reason for the decision. This async surface uses casual 1v1; format-specific rounds live in Practice.

It is the only surface here that survives a thin queue.

Spar needs someone waiting right now. Live needs a room. This needs one person, today, and a second person whenever they get to it.

Every round you start finishes. The dead invite, recorded into a void and never answered, is the one thing async has to rule out.

A challenge is a public object, not a private duel. It sits on the board until somebody takes it, and it stays up after.
