Why nobody gets paid here today
Plenty of sites will tell you that you can make money arguing online. Most of them are selling you something. Here is the actual state of this one: the prediction board is live and free, it runs on Play Points, and Play Points never convert to cash. Nothing on Debatable pays out today.
That is deliberate sequencing, not a missing feature. Prize competitions touch real law: sweepstakes rules, eligibility, age limits, regional restrictions, official rules that hold up. Launching prizes before that work is done is how platforms end up burning their players. The groundwork runs first, then entries open.
What a prize tournament will look like
An event opens with its official rules published up front: eligibility, schedule, scoring, and how prizes are awarded. Entry is free, with no purchase necessary.
You predict real debate rounds. Every market settles on the AI judge's written ballot, not an audience poll.
Standings compound across the event. Calibration is the skill: knowing how confident to be, round after round.
Prizes go out per the official rules. Winners hear directly; results publish to the leaderboard.
The firewall that stays up
The free board and prize events are two separate systems, and they do not leak into each other. Play Points cannot be bought and cannot be cashed out. Prize events will have their own entry, their own scoring, and their own published rules. Buying anything on Debatable never buys standing, odds, or prizes.
Eligibility will be enforced, including age and region requirements. Minors will not be eligible for redeemable prizes, full stop.
Skill is the whole game
A debate market is not a coin flip. Rounds are argued by real people and settled on a judge's written reason for decision. Predicting them well means reading arguments, weighing evidence, and updating when a speech actually lands. Do it across twenty rounds and your standing reflects a skill, the same one forecasters train on purpose.
That is why prize events here will be skill competitions on judged rounds rather than games of chance, and why your practice on the free board counts for something now: the calibration you build today is the edge you bring when entries open.
