How a round works across languages
Four things happen. You only do the first one.
Pick your language once.
The language control sits on every page and in the room. Pick it, and the whole site follows, including the room and the ballot.
Speak normally.
Your mic transcribes in your language. You never type and you never translate yourself.
They read, or listen, in theirs.
Your opponent sees a live caption in their language while you talk. If they turn on Speak translation, it is read aloud to them.
The judge scores each speech as given.
Hebrew is judged as Hebrew, Spanish as Spanish. The ballot shows its work in the language the round used, or in English when the round used two.

Questions
Does my opponent need to speak my language?
No. You speak your language. Your mic transcribes it, your opponent reads a live caption in theirs or hears it read aloud, and the judge scores each speech in the language it was given.
What language is the ballot in?
If both of you used one language, the ballot is written in it. If you used two, each speech is scored in its own language and the ballot is written in English.
Does the site itself switch?
Yes. Pick a language and the pages, the room and the ballot follow. If you start speaking another language mid-round, the site switches to that one.
Can I practice alone first?
Yes. Against the AI, the whole round runs in your language, ballot included. Start at Practice with the AI.
