How to debate online here
Pick a path
Human for a real opponent in seconds, AI for a round right now, or a live room for a scheduled match with a judge ballot.
Pick a motion
Use a real tournament motion from your format, hit shuffle for a random one, or type your own. Both sides see the same prompt when the round starts.
Argue
Voice or typed. Take POIs, give POIs, push back on the warrant. Round ends, the AI judge writes the RFD with speaker points and one drill for next round.
Why this is a real online debate platform
Most "online debate" tools are forum threads, chat with a general AI, or asynchronous comment battles. This one is built for the sport. A real-time voice round on a clock, format-native structure, an opponent who pushes back, and a judge ballot scored on the criteria your format actually uses.
Built by a national APDA champion at UChicago. The voice bank behind every AI opponent knows the Sofia 2026 WUDC manual changes, India's 2025 WSDC win, the NDT 2026 Arctic-topic meta, the LD trad-vs-circuit split, the PF 1st-vs-2nd speaker asymmetry, and the 4-point judge spectrum (lay / flay / flow / tech). The AI on motion X today is not the AI on motion X last month. A nightly distillation pass pulls top-rated rounds back into the prompt.
Online debate FAQ
Where can I debate online for free?
Right here. /spar pairs you with a real human. /debate-it and /voice-debate let you spar against AI. /live hosts scheduled human-vs-human tournament rounds. Free while in beta; future pricing is reference-only.
How do I debate online with strangers?
Open /spar, propose a format, hit Find. You're paired with the next debater on the queue. Pairing usually lands in under a minute when anyone else is online. No format gate, no AI fallback. It's the closest thing to Omegle for debate; the full walkthrough is at /debate-strangers.
How do I practice debate online if I don't have a partner?
Use /voice-debate. The AI takes the opposing side at varsity level, gives POIs, interrupts when relevant, and writes the judge ballot when you finish. You get a full round in under 10 minutes for casual formats, ~45 minutes for APDA, ~60 minutes for BP.
Which online debate platform is best for [my format]?
This one covers Asian Parliamentary, WSDC, BP, APDA, PF, LD, Policy, Congress, MUN, and a casual Quick Clash mode. Format selection is in /debate-it. Each format has its own speech timing, citation rules, judging criteria, and speaker scale baked into the AI's prompt.
Can I debate online without signing up?
Yes. Anonymous visitors get 5 AI rounds on /debate-it before the soft cap, and human pairing on /spar works as a guest too. Signing in with Google bumps the AI cap to 10 total and gives you a named profile in live rounds.
Is this an online debate tournament site?
Not yet. /live hosts individual scheduled rounds with AI judging. A flagship online tournament with AI prelims + human elims is on the year-out roadmap (see the goals section on the landing page).
Can I debate online in languages other than English?
Yes. The picker on the landing page sets the AI's output language across 14 options including Hindi, Spanish, French, Mandarin, Arabic, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia, and more. The AI replies in your language; the TTS synthesizes voice in the matching language too.
How is this different from a generic AI chat app?
Three things. Real-time voice round on a clock instead of asynchronous chat. Format-accurate structure (Policy gets tagged cards, LD gets value/criterion, BP gets extensions). And a judge ballot at the end with speaker points and a concrete next-round drill, not a "great points on both sides" summary.
